Why combine a Mediterranean Diet and a Macrobiotic Diet?
After many years of research we strongly believe that the combination of macrobiotic diet principles with varied, traditional diets such as the Mediterranean Diet can be the key to achieving long-lasting, healthful and enjoyable diet change. Macro-Mediterranean is a term we use to describe our integrative approach to nutrition counseling.

Macrobiotics, in and of itself, sometimes has a reputation of being a restrictive diet. This is why the approach we have developed is based upon parallels between macrobiotics, credible studies in nutritional science and what is known about traditional patterns of eating. By using this multi-faceted approach to the challenge of helping people to transition to more healthful ways of eating, we are able to offer more variety and moderation than any one of these single approaches would allow, and so have had great success at keeping our recommendations practical and approachable.

What You Get When Working With Us

Most of us have never taken the time out to really look in-depth at the way we eat and how it can affect our health and vitality. Yet we practice eating daily. Taking the time to become conscious of what we have been eating, and then figuring out what improvements can be made is a small yet essential investment, and one that can have returns in health and quality of life incomparable to almost anything else we do. read more

The Tools we Offer

We know better than almost anyone from the amount of research we have done that there are many explanations out there on how and what to eat to be healthy. Through our years of study and weeding through a myriad of theories we have learned to find the commonalities in many of these theories that has led us ultimately to our approach. What we have not found yet is a theory that is well presented, that is then combined with real-world, practical tools on how to implement what is promoted. As a result, we have spent and continue to spend considerable time and effort in developing different tools for you to choose from so that the new habits will adapt to your lifestyle, not the other way around. read more

Dietary Support of Healing

Whether lowering cholesterol and hypertension, easing bloating and other digestive issues, helping to correct blood sugar levels, reducing strong cravings for sweets or salt, correcting nutritional deficiencies, or boosting the immune system, shifting to a more balanced way of eating can be a unique and yet little utilized tool to help our bodies heal. read more

Since beginning my learning with you I feel like I have become a part of a community of people seeking positive change in their lives. For the first time I am actually enjoying the process of changing my nutritional intake. (I do not want to call this a diet, as I feel like it is a lifestyle change).

The best part of working with you is that you do not expect perfection and do not advocate restriction. Instead you have assisted me and encouraged me to make slow changes. You have provided me with knowledge as to what certain foods do to my body and why eating them or limiting them are beneficial. This way I can make an educated decision.

In January of 2007 Maria Mellano was suffering from fatigue, shortness of breath, anemia and high-fever. In the hospital it became evident that something serious was going on as the medical staff realized she was hemorrhaging into her lungs and kidneys. She was diagnosed with a rare autoimmune disease.

In this video you will hear her tell her own story of how through a healing diet and a Macro-Mediterranean approach to eating she has, in a short time, regained more health and vitality than her doctors thought possible.
