Transitioning into Spring

As the seasons change so does our body and its needs. Spring is a time of awakening and renewal inside us. As you know, there is a tradition of "cleaning house" in spring and we must learn the importance of shifting our diets in this season so that our body may successfully perform its own spring cleaning.

After working with so many of you we know that an important issue is that we provide you with recipes that are easy and quick to prepare. We also know that it is easier for many of you if recipes include familiar elements or if they are versions of meals that are already familiar to you and your kids. This spring we have taken our strong background in the research and development of healthful nutrition practices and combined it with the knowledge Maria brings from her latest studies at the Kushi Institute to be able to provide you with Macro-Mediterranean versions of familiar foods like Spaghetti with "Wheatballs", Pizza, Enchiladas, Veggie Burgers, Burritos, Falafel as well as Mediterranean traditional Paella, soups, creams and salads. Macro-Mediterranean Pot-Luck (Boston, April 15, 2008)

Thank you to all of you who were able to attend our pot-luck and who made it such a special event. Here you will find photos of the event to remember what a nice time we had. This was a chance for us to see you put into practice everything you have been learning and we were so impressed! We look forward to seeing you all again on our next trip to Boston! See photos

Since beginning my learning with you I feel like I have become a part of a community of people seeking positive change in their lives. For the first time I am actually enjoying the process of changing my nutritional intake. (I do not want to call this a diet, as I feel like it is a lifestyle change).

The best part of working with you is that you do not expect perfection and do not advocate restriction. Instead you have assisted me and encouraged me to make slow changes. You have provided me with knowledge as to what certain foods do to my body and why eating them or limiting them are beneficial. This way I can make an educated decision.
                   -- Lynn Clancy (Boston)

In January of 2007 Maria Mellano was suffering from fatigue, shortness of breath, anemia and high-fever. In the hospital it became evident that something serious was going on as the medical staff realized she was hemorrhaging into her lungs and kidneys. She was diagnosed with a rare autoimmune disease.

In this video you will hear her tell her own story of how through a healing diet and a Macro-Mediterranean approach to eating she has, in a short time, regained more health and vitality than her doctors thought possible.
