The Tools we Offer

We know better than almost anyone from the amount of research we have done that there are many explanations out there on how and what to eat to be healthy. Through our years of study and weeding through a myriad of theories we have learned to find the commonalities in many of these theories that has led us ultimately to our approach. What we have not found yet is a theory that is well presented, that is then combined with real-world, practical tools on how to implement what is promoted. As a result, we have spent and continue to spend considerable time and effort in developing different tools for you to choose from so that the new habits will adapt to your lifestyle, not the other way around.

Individual, Couple or Family Nutrition Counseling

Our service is based around working one-on-one with you or with you and your family to increase your consciousness of how your diet and lifestyle affect your well-being. We then work with you to find the changes, large or small, that you ready to make and that will provide you with the greatest benefit to your health and quality of life.

Group Nutrition Counseling

Group consultations are a great opportunity to hear about the transition of other clients and hear us answer questions posed by them that can give you insight into aspects of Macro-Mediterranean eating that you might not have thought of. Group consultations also give us a chance to address larger issues and present new and emerging research to many clients at the same time, and allowing us to keep individual consultations as focused on the individual's needs as possible.

Our Recipe System

One tool we offer that has helped many of our clients is that we have developed a system of easy recipes that we combine for them into a balanced week of meals. Each week of meals comes with shopping lists provided so that they just take the list for the week they plan to cook to the store without any further thought. Our recipes vary by season, so with this approach they would end up having a few weeks for each season that they would rotate throughout the year, facilitating a varied, complete and enjoyable way to provide themself with a healthful diet year-round. In this case we spend some of our consultation time working with them to adapt the recipes to their personal needs and teaching them how to work with the new ingredients.

Adapt Your Own Cooking

For clients who prefer not to use our recipes we instead work with them to adapt their own meals and recipes to fit with the principles we teach. We will also work with them, as we do with all clients, to teach them how to make good choices when they are eating out or away from home.

Finding Small Steps

Other clients come to us who are not yet ready to make big shifts in their eating habits. With this type of client we provide them with patient support as we work together to find the small but significant changes that they do feel ready to make that move their eating in a more healthful direction.

Personal Chef Service

Some of our clients need or want to begin changing their diet but don't have the time or physical ability to devote to learning to cook for themselves. For this type of client we have developed a personal chef service that may provide them meals during all or part of the week. This service is currently available in the Boston, MA area and is under development in New York, NY and Mallorca, Spain. In this case our consultation time is spent on working with the client to personalize the foods that will be being prepared for them so that the service can help them transition to this new way of eating at the pace they feel ready for.

When pricing this service we have tried to make it as affordable as possible so that anyone who needs it may use it. We currently offer prices as low as $6.00 per meal. The personal chef service can be a good way for clients to begin to understand what truly healthful food is like and how this way of eating can make them feel before having to spend much time learning the skills to prepare this type of food for themselves.

Since beginning my learning with you I feel like I have become a part of a community of people seeking positive change in their lives. For the first time I am actually enjoying the process of changing my nutritional intake. (I do not want to call this a diet, as I feel like it is a lifestyle change).

The best part of working with you is that you do not expect perfection and do not advocate restriction. Instead you have assisted me and encouraged me to make slow changes. You have provided me with knowledge as to what certain foods do to my body and why eating them or limiting them are beneficial. This way I can make an educated decision.

In January of 2007 Maria Mellano was suffering from fatigue, shortness of breath, anemia and high-fever. In the hospital it became evident that something serious was going on as the medical staff realized she was hemorrhaging into her lungs and kidneys. She was diagnosed with a rare autoimmune disease.

In this video you will hear her tell her own story of how through a healing diet and a Macro-Mediterranean approach to eating she has, in a short time, regained more health and vitality than her doctors thought possible.
