How do I order?
Please look through our different meal programs to find the one that is right for you and the follow the check-out process to create an account. If you aren’t sure what program to choose, please contact us for a recommendation.
Is there an order minimum?
Yes, $40, (order sub-total prior to shipping fees being applied). Shipping charges are not that different for small orders and large orders, so if you just want a small amount of food per week, we would recommend ordering enough food for multiple weeks and ordering less-frequently. You can fit up to 25 items in a single shipping box so orders of this size, or just slightly under, will give you the lowest shipping cost per item ordered.
Is there an order deadline?
Yes. To ensure you can receive food for a particular week please place your order by Wednesday at midnight the week prior to when you would like your food to arrive. This date is always indicated next to each delivery date in your account.
When will I be billed?
You are not billed at the moment you place your order giving you time to make changes up until the order cut-off for each delivery date. Billing is processed on the Thursday the week before your order will arrive (one day after the order cut-off date).
How do I cancel an order?
You can cancel an order online anytime up until the order cut-off date, (Wednesday at midnight the week before your delivery). After the cut-off date, orders go into production, recipes are scaled and purchase orders are placed making it impossible for us to stop the production of your meals. As a result it is not possible to cancel an order after its respective order cut-off date has passed.
Is a subscription required?
No. You can always place a one-time order. You can setup a recurring order as a convenience but can cancel it at anytime cancelling all future orders that have not reached their order deadline.
What if I am going on vacation?
If you just placed a one-time order you do not need to do anything. If you setup a recurring order you can input the dates you will be away into your online account to skip any deliveries scheduled while you are away.
When will my meals arrive?
Your estimated delivery date will always be indicated to you when placing orders. Our meals ship on Wednesdays. The day of the week you receive your meals will depend on the transit time required to reach your delivery location.
How are meals delivered?
Generally meals are delivered via FedEx Ground (commercial locations), FedEx Home Delivery (residential locations), or FedEx 2Day Air service (western US). If you live in the Boston, MA area we may be able to fit you into our limited local courier service and will contact you after you place your order if that is an option.
Do I need to be home to receive my meals?
Meals are delivered in refrigerated coolers. As long as there is a safe, unlocked place for your meals to be left, and FedEx will reliably leave a package at your door, you do not need to be home to receive your meals.
How do I dispose of the shipping materials?
Most shipping materials can be easily recycled. Our shipping insulation is also bio-degradable and can be composted if you remove its recyclable plastic liner. Ice packs can be reused or emptied and the liners recycled.
How should I store my meals?
All breakfasts, side soups and condiments can be stored in the freezer. Each main meal has an indicator on the label to let you know how well we think it freezes, (basically if we see a change in texture upon thawing). We recommend freezing any meals you will not eat by Monday. In addition we recommend eating or freezing any dishes containing kale, broccoli, green peas or cucumbers by Saturday.
Are your ingredients organic?
We use as many organic ingredients as availability allows while maintaining our commitment to keeping our service affordable for regular use. Many of our staple grains and beans are always organic, and all are procured from non GMO sources. Our other ingredients are procured from organic sources whenever possible, depending upon availability and market price fluctuations.
We believe deeply in supporting the organic movement and reclaiming our untainted agricultural heritage. As our service grows, our commitment is to continue to use only high-quality, natural, unprocessed ingredients and further increase our use of organics and eco-farmed ingredients.
Preparing the extremely wide variety of dishes that we do, some ingredients are simply not available on the market in an organic form currently, and others become cost prohibitive at times with our current price point. As a general rule, our dishes currently contain between 60% and 90% organic ingredients, with a few reaching our 100% goal at varying times throughout the year.
What is a Macro-Mediterranean diet?
We strongly believe in the benefits that can be gained from practicing many macrobiotic diet principles and their parallels with credible nutritional research on optimal diets for sustaining health.
By combining these principles with varied, traditional diets such as the Mediterranean Diet we have developed our approach to achieving a long-lasting, healthful and enjoyable dietary practice that benefits health, weight maintenance and improves energy. Macro-Mediterranean is a term we use to describe our integrative approach to nutrition and meal creation.
What is Macrobiotics
Macrobiotics is a well-founded nutritional therapy developed by studying and improving upon sucessful traditional diets among populations that enjoyed long lifespans and low rates of chronic disease. Macrobiotics has developed clear patterns and ratios for designing complete meals that improve health while optimizing energy and efficient use of calories.
We believe Macrobiotics has not been more successful in the western world because it is generally used to create dishes that would appeal more to an eastern palate. We use the same core Macrobiotic principles to create and modify dishes taken from and inspired by our rich cultural heritage of vastly different world cuisines, but specifically keeping a western palate in mind. The end results of using this approach are exciting foods you can look forward to that help you feel great too.
